05.29.2014   Charitable Contributions from ECCC 2014

Posted by: Jim D Charitable Contributions from ECCC 2014
Emerald City Comicon is proud to announce that with the charitable contributions of our attendees and exhibitors, we have raised over $25,000 for our chosen charities.

Thanks to the Charity Art Auction during ECCC 2014, the sale of the Monsters & Dames art books, and the custom Funko figures auction, we have donated $22,000 to the Seattle Children's Hospital. The donation will go directly to the Heart Center, which has one of the top medical and surgical heart teams in the country. For more information on the Seattle Children's Hospital Heart Center, visit their site.

Proceeds raised from the Carol Corps Celebration event have gone towards our $3,000 donation to the Girls Leadership Institute, which is Captain Marvel writer Kelly Sue DeConnick's charity of choice. For more information on the Girls Leadership Institute and their mission, please visit them.

Without the commitment and generous donations from our convention attendees, exhibitors, and online fans, we could not have raised this money. So thank you for helping us help these charities, and for being an essential part of Emerald City Comicon.

05.14.2014   Tales From The Con: Year One

Posted by: Jim D Tales From The Con: Year One
Don't forget that the regular edition of Tales from the Con: Year One is out today!

You can find a local store that carries it or you can get it directly from Image Comics!

More about Tales From The Con:

If you’ve been to a comic convention, you’ll recognize the scenes in TALES FROM THE CON, the irreverent webcomic that has appeared on the Emerald City Comicon website since 2012. Written by Eisner-nominee BRAD GUIGAR (HOW TO MAKE WEBCOMICS, Evil Inc.) and illustrated by CHRIS GIARRUSSO (G-MAN, Mini Marvels), TALES FROM THE CON is an uproarious take on the world of comic books and conventions. Fanboys, fangirls, cosplayers, retailers, volunteers, and pros repeatedly collide on the convention floor (and beyond) to prove that comic conventions are one part festival, two parts group therapy. Collects the first year of TALES FROM THE CON strips along with bonus material.
