Con Update

05.09.08
Quick update: Due to a family emergency, Herb Trimpe will be unable to attend the show. I think that's everything, we're all updated out - see you there!!

05.08.08
Items from Joseph Michael Linser, Todd McFarlane, John Romita Sr. and Josh Medors have been added to the Josh Medors Benefit Auction!

Also, Image Comics released this announcement today:Image Comics' Pacific Northwest bred heroes, MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS and GEMINI, celebrate Emerald City ComiCon with exclusive covers not to ever be made available anywhere else!

"Emerald City Comic Con is my hometown convention," GEMINI co-creator and writer Jay Faerber said. "Debuting my newest creation there, with an exclusive cover nonetheless, was too perfect an opportunity to pass up."

MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #8 is also a starting point for the veteran hero, as Frank Einstein's backstory acts as a jumping point for readers old and new. To celebrate, the Emerald City ComiCon variant is a throw back for Frank's very first appearance in Caliber's CREATURES FROM THE ID #1. The GEMINI cover, all-new illustration by series co-creator and artist Jon Sommariva, displays the unique dual nature of Faerber's all-new sleeper super-agent. A select few of each cover will be given away at the IMAGE COMICS SHOW, featuring Faerber, WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman and ELEPHANTMEN's Richard Starkings.

MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS creator Mike Allred added, "There's a lot of buzz up here in the Pacific Northwest for the Emerald City ComiCon and since I wasn't able to attend this year, I still wanted to do something very special. I hope folks will get a big kick out this."

The Emerald City ComiCon will take place May 10th and 11th at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. More information on both covers can be found at the Image Comics booth, #602. In addition, THE IMAGE COMICS SHOW will be on Saturday in Panel Room B from 3-4 PM.

Let's take a break from the exclusives and add some more guests to the list, shall we? Thanks to a joint venture with San Jose's Super-Con, we're proud to bring four legendary artists from SPAIN to the Emerald City ComiCon this year:

Some of these artists have never made appearances in the United States and none have ever made it out to the Pacific Northwest, so this is a rare treat for fans to meet some pioneers of fantasy art in person! In addition, we have also added TONE RODRIGUEZ (Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror) and WILLIAM HARMS (Impaler) to the guest list too. We do regret to announce that Brian Michael Bendis has a scheduling conflict and will likely be unable to attend the show this year.

As the show is getting closer, things that have been in the works for a while are coming to fruition. Hence, this is third post in a row announcing an exclusive to the show. Anyway, after many requests to do something cool with the Pike Place Market illustration that Heroes (and just announced Captain America: White) artist TIM SALE did for the show, we decided the best way to present it was as a limited edition print. Printed on 110lb paper and featuring a matte finish, each print will be hand-signed by Tim and limited to only 100 pieces:

Tim Sale Print

Not to end this post on a down note, but I do have to announce a couple of cancellations. Our first big update is here! We've added several new guests to the show (listed below), as well as our first group of Artist Alley attendees and exhibitors.

08.15.07
The floodgates have officially opened for the 6th year of the Emerald City ComiCon! We are now accepting applications for Dealers, Exhibitors, and Artist Alley. A change from last year is that we are now using a handy "all-in-one" application which has all of the various information and prices for anyone interested in setting up at ECCC. We are also now designating everyone except Artist Alley as Exhibitors.

Our 6th year also brings another change... a new location! This year, we will now be located at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in beautiful downtown Seattle. This is a big change for all of us, one that will allow our show to continue to grow smoothly! Due to the change in venue, we are also moving a month later on the calendar from April to May, specifically May 10th & 11th.

As always, we're slowly ramping up and though our guest list is currently small, you know that the Emerald City ComiCon never disappoints. We have some great announcements in the pipeline, so keep checking back here or sign up on the e-mail newsletter to see what we have in store for 2008!
